SEVENTH GRADE

Help your child master the standards necessary to pass the STAR Writing Test and begin developing college writing skills.

7th Grade Literature and Writing Program:
The study of literature is important because it helps students develop critical thinking, reading comprehension, and writing skills while improving analytical abilities to ensure a successful academic future. Reading and studying literature from different time periods improves students?cultural literacy that, in turn, broadens their worldviews and perspectives. These classes will be taught using an interdisciplinary approach. Because many of the works and authors we cover are already in the high school and college curriculum, gaining an understanding of them as well as their historical time frame, will give students an academic advantage that their peers will not have. Furthermore, becoming familiar with several of these literary pieces will greatly benefit students taking New SAT, SAT Subject Tests or other AP exams.
