Phonics Development Program featuring Stellar Phonics to Reading
The Stellar Phonics to Reading curriculum is a comprehensive, step-by-step program that takes a difficult language and makes it as simple as possible to learn. As the lessons progress the students will learn:

• The name of the letters of the alphabet
• The sound or sounds the letters make
• The phonics rule that explains which vowel sound is made and when
• The correct printing of each letter
• How to individual letter sounds at the beginning, middle, and end of a word
• How to blend individual sounds into words
• Matching words to pictures for comprehension
• Hearing syllables in a word
• Listening for and finding words that rhyme
• Reading sentences, followed by short stories

Large pictures help students understand the meaning of the huge vocabulary they encounter, as well as expanding their knowledge of the world around them. Time is spent orally using the vocabulary words in sentences, which is a precursor to writing, and helps students form sentences correctly as they speak.

Our instructors have had fantastic success using this method for more than 15 years. We find this curriculum to be the most effective, exciting method for teaching phonics and reading available anywhere. We are very excited to be able to offer this cutting edge, brain friendly, accelerated program to our students at California Central Academy.

This class is recommended to all incoming Kindergarteners and students who have just completed the first grade, but would greatly benefit from a summer of phonics review to help them become stronger readers when they enter first grade in the fall.

Students will attend this class for 3 hours a week.
